The Spires are a great indiepop duo from nearby Ventura, California. They put out two melancholic-ly beautiful recordings last year (on their own Beehouse Records, might I add): January’s full-length Written In A Year With A Lot Of Rain and December’s Sky Sky EP. The band’s pop songs employ lovely harmonies that have won them comparisons to everyone from Belle and Sebastian to The Smiths to Belle & Sebastian. Ain't nothin' better than jangly pop music, in my humblest of opinions.
